NIE took part in the 3d international conference “Political, Social, and Psychological Measurements of Transitional Society: How To Make Reforms Successful”, which was conducted on the premises of Sumy State University.

The head of the organization Oleh Honcharenko spoke at a meeting with a report on “The Role of NGO in Development of the Informational Society”. It was mentioned that today the activities of the third sector organizations is very important in leading to relevant educational projects. For instance: programs of informatization, internet – education, digital literacy and informing citizens on European Union. Today our state and business organizations work on these questions not as extensively as is needed. On the contrary, NGO’s are able to react quickly to the changes and requirements of modern society. Furthermore, it was added that a successful realization of educational programs is a social partnership.

On the 28th -30th of October, 2005, NIE was invited by the local Department of Education to participate in the oblast exhibition “Education – 2005”. At the exhibition NIE presented the services of our organization and current projects:

• “The Next Step” contest to promote the integration of IT into education methodologies
• “Informational Technologies for Orphans”

On the October 28th, 2005 at the regional exhibition, “Education of Sumy Oblast, 2005”, held at Ukrrosmetal Exhibition Center, NIE presented an education methodology contest called “The Next Step”. This contest was opened for educators of the Sumy Region to help promote the development of methodologies in computer and informational education.

The duration of the contest was from October 2004 - May 2005. The competition was a joint initiative of the distance learning lab of Sumy State University, IATP, the Informational and Methodological Department of Education in Sumy, Pavlobor Ltd., and Kvazar Micro of Sumy.

The aim of contest was to promote the usage of modern computer technologies in education and to stimulate creative initiatives using IT. The desired result was the realization of pedagogical projects with a high level of creativity. Over forty-two applications were submitted to the contest.
